The Rough Lands® Story

Rough Lands® came to light in 2018, born from countless weekends spent exploring Wisconsin's state parks. Every time I clocked out from work, my Jeep was prepped and waiting, ready to embark on new adventures amidst campsites, rivers, lakes, hills, ridges, and gorges. With my kayak secured, I'd eagerly set out to discover fresh territories. Embracing the rugged outdoors became a way of life.

From these escapades emerged the vision for Rough Lands—a brand for outdoor enthusiasts who relish the rustling of wind through branches, the symphony of frogs in marshy ponds, and the refreshing summer waters. Whether it's kayaking along meandering rivers or trekking across rolling hills, Rough Lands caters to those who find joy in fishing, ATV's, biking, swimming, camping, and many other outdoor activities.

Some of the places that I have visited include:

• The Apostles Islands in Northern Wisconsin on Lake Superior. Hiking along the upper trails have breathtaking views and kayaking in the cold, temperamental waters below is a must for the adventurer.

• Whitewater rafting in the Wolf River, wonderful waters and roaring rapids with Shotgun Eddy Rafts.

• The Menomonee Indian Reservation, rafting down this stunning landscape and gorge, down to the Big Smokey Falls Rafting Co.

Governor Thompson State Park in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Amazing lake with no current that allows you explore freely and calmly. Islands abound to rest and hidden campsites.

• The serene warm waters of the Peshtigo River in Silver Cliff, Wisconsin. Excellent water and whitewater rafting with Kosir's Rafting & Campground.

Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Excellent hiking on the bluffs with refreshing waters in the hot summer.

• The Kickapoo River in Ontario, Wisconsin is a must for the kayaker, warm waters and smooth current allows calm, relaxing times with stunning rock formations and eagles. Mr. Ducks Canoe Rental is a great place to start!

These are just a few of the many more places to hike, kayak and explore.
